Myth, Fantasy, and Faith This one-hour public television documentary explores imagination and faith in the search for spiritual truth. A five-part classroom educational curriculum based on the individual authors is also in development. The program will explore the life and work of five renown British authors ... all of whom came to their Christian faith through their knowledge of mythology ... all of whom wrote engaging, imaginative and timeless fiction. Their work furthered their unique perspectives on morality and ethics and presented readers with dramatic tales in which characters are faced with epic challenges in the battle between good and evil, right and wrong. The interplay of faith and imagination in the search for spiritual truth is powerfully reflected in the fantasy works of Christian mythmakers J. R. R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, G. K. Chesterton and Charles Williams. Their imaginative worlds, mythic vision and entertaining characters continue to engage readers from around the world. But more than that, their literature draws readers who are on a search of their own. The film and classroom series will feature extensive interviews with leading scholars from several universities including Oxford, Cambridge, The University of Edinburgh, and Wheaton College (Illinois). Most of the historical archive material for these five writers (including historical photos and original manuscripts and letters) is stored at the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College. The producers have worked previously with the Wade Center on the production of THE MAGIC NEVER ENDS - The Life & Work of C.S. Lewis. A production of The Duncan Group and Crouse Entertainment Group |
